MMS – Nobody Rides For Free!

As a kid I remember seeing a bumper sticker on the back of so many vans driving on the road. The sticker conveyed the message Ass, Gas, or Grass, nobody rides for free. While the message was one of adult content, it was pretty clear and simple. In order to get a ride in a van displaying this bumper sticker, some sort of payment needed to be rendered to the driver because as the sticker reflected, nobody gets a free ride. Similarly, as a collective society where everyone has an interdependence on each other, would it not be reasonable to require Mandatory Military Service from individuals regardless of gender to be initiated at age 19?

With all of the lawlessness, irresponsibility, and lack of compassion exhibited by so many in society for their fellow-man (and woman), why not let the nation’s young people get a good dose of discipline and reality by being required to serve the nation in the armed forces for a period of two years?

We see it in the news every day; shooting after shooting, killing after killing, crime after crime. Time after time we view and read about how we as a so-called civil society experience some of the worst crimes in our community for a free western nation, and this is very troubling. Yet nothing seems to stem the flow of crime featured on the news that occurs overnight, every night all across the country.

We have to start somewhere, and this is as good a place as any.

Do you agree? Why or why not? Tell us your opinion…
